About the Group
The Plumbing Interest Group currently has representation from plumbing employers, trade associations, professional bodies, manufacturers, training providers, the armed forces, colleges including BACH and NAPT members, City and Guilds, Adult Learning Inspectorate, and LSC CoVE representation.

Key issues
To date the following topics have been discussed:

• Feedback on recruitment and registration for plumbing qualifications.
• Concerns about training organisations offering non recognised training.
• Aptitude testing for new entrants.
• Gas work based training requirements within Plumbing NVQ.
• Energy Efficiency Training.
• Part P Training.
• Plumbing Competitions.
• Staff Development and Training of Trainers.

             Part G Building Regulations

The Building Regulations Part G will be amended from March 2010.

A reminder that there are major changes which will affect the training of plumbers, heating engineers and designers on existing courses and lecturers should be aware of these changes as they should now be amending their teaching processes to meet the new requirements which affect all plumbing and heating courses.
